Optical Sorters & Graders

Core Products

Feature & Benefits

Depending on the required product through-put and the application, our base technology uses advanced high-resolution line-scan cameras that accurately detect unwanted colour features, size and shape deviations. Our optical configurations are optimised to suit your particular product with available resolutions down to less than 0.2mm.

To further increase sorting efficiency, we utilise the latest in multi-spectral wavelength product illumination which is optimised for the product or products being sorted. This significantly enhances the defect detection process and results in a greater sorting efficiency.

Our sorters have a vertical scanning speed of up to 16,000 full lines per second (application dependant), which together with our high-resolution cameras results in a market-leading optical resolution of less than 0.15mm. A higher optical resolution significantly improves detection and measurement efficiency.

Coupled with our camera and illumination system, our cutting-edge processing utilises powerful dedicated image processing hardware, all operating in real-time on multiple objects. With our dedicated ML (Machine-Learning) software we are able to offer an unrivalled defect detection capability which also reduces the erroneous rejection of ‘good’ product.

Depending upon the application, all our sorters utilise proven high-speed pneumatic rejection in a variety of densities to less than 4.8mm between ejectors, our integrated air-preparation system ensures efficient, ultra-fast defect removal.

With an unrivalled approach to machine engineering, design and build quality results in the highest quality product. This approach is inherent in the design, build and installation of all our new and upgraded sorters. Each of our sorters utilise a stainless steel construction with adherence to the strictest hygiene and build standards.

Our core-products offer a starting point for customised and bespoke applications – contact us to discuss your application:-

OptiSizer 1248ML

Our latest and most innovative optical inspection and sorting machine is the OptiSizer 1248 advanced optical sorter.  This machine has been specifically designed for lightweight food product sorting (e.g. potato flake, herbs, spices, salt etc), utilising shade, colour, size and shape for defect detection and removal applications.  The OptiSizer 1248 can be adapted for use with a variety of other products with a base inspection width of 1248mm, either monochromatic or multi-spectral format inspection and 128 or 256 ejector densities

OptiSizer DS1560ML

An extra wide sorter with double-sided viewing for increased throughput and enhanced defect detection. This machine has been specifically designed for medium-weight food sorting (e.g. salt flake) The OptiSizer DS1560 has a base inspection width of 1560mm, either monochromatic or multi-spectral format inspection and 160 or 320 ejector densities

OptiSizer CS

A ‘laned’ sorter specifically designed for carrot sorting, with 12, 24 or 36 lanes to suit most process lines and through-puts.  The vision system incorporates double-sided angular vision providing top, bottom, crown and tip inspection. In addition to detecting and removing colour, shade, size and shape defects (multi-spectral imaging, including infra-red), the OptiSizer CS is also available in either a 2-way or 3-way sort (accept 1, accept 2, defect). Inspection widths available are 672mm, 1344mm and 2016mm.

OptiSizer FFC (French-Fries-Classifier)

A self-contained, stand-alone non-contact size and shape analyser, used to measure French-fry critical dimensions from a sample. The OptiSizer FFC can be utilised for a number of other food processing uses where size and/or shape are an important product parameter.

OptiSizer PS (Portable Sorter)

A self-contained, stand-alone sorter used for off-line, low-throughput, high accuracy refining applications. Primarily for recovering high-value product from a high-throughput rejection stream, laboratory analysis and a variety of small to medium sorting applications.
